በባህርዳር ጊዮን ሆቴል ጉዳይ የተነሳ የአማራ ክልል ባለስልጣናትና ህወሀት ተፋጠዋል

የዛሬ 21 አመት ህወሀት/ ኢህአዴግ አሸንፎ አዲስ አበባን ከመቆጣጠሩ በፊት ለህወሀት በመሰለል ከፍተኛ አስተዋጽኦ በማድረጋቸው የሚታወቁት በባህርዳር ከተማ ነዋሪ የሆኑት የአድዋው ተወላጅ እና የአቶ መለስ ዜናዊ የቅርብ ዘመድ አቶ ወልዱ፣ ለህወሀት  ላበረከቱት አስተዋጽኦ ፣ አቶ መለስ ዜናዊ የመንግስት ንብረት የሆነውን ጊዮን ሄቴልን በ5 ሺ ብር ኪራይ እንዲሰሩበት በገጸ በረከት ስጥተዋቸው ነበር።

አቶ ወልዱ በልጃቸው በአቶ ብስራት ወልዱ ዋና አስተዳዳሪነት ሆቴሉን ሲሰሩበት እና ከፍተኛ ግብር ሲያጋብሱበት ከቆዩ በሁዋላ፣ ህዝቡ በባህርዳር ከተማ አንድ ኪዎስክ በ5 ሺ ብር እየተከራየ ጊዮን ሆቴልን የሚያክል በስፋቱና በጥራቱ ተወዳዳሪ የሌለውን ሆቴል እንዴት መንግስት በ5 ሺ ብር ያከራያል በማለት ተቃውሞ ሲያሰማ መቆየቱን ተከትሎ፣ የፌደራል የኪራይ ቤቶች ድርጅት የክልሉ መንግስት ቤቶች ኤጀንሲ ሆቴሉን እንዲረከብ ለአማራ ክልል ቤቶች አስተዳዳር አምና ደብዳቤ ጽፏል።

ሆቴሉን እንዲያስረክቡ ድብዳቤ የደረሳቸው አቶ ወልዱ  በቀጥታ ለአቶ በረከት ፣ ለፌዴሩሽን ምክር ቤት ሰብሳቢው ለአቶ ካሳ ተክለብርሀንና ለቀድሞው ምክትል ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር አዲሱ ለገሰ ፣ የብሄር ብሄረሰቦችን በአል ለማክበር አዲስ አበባ በተገኙበት ወቅት፣ አቶ መለስ ዜናዊ መሞታቸውን ተክትሎ ቤቱን እንዲያስረክቡ መጠየቃቸውን በመናገራቸው፣ ባለስልጣኖቹ የክልሉ መንግስት የጻፈውን ደብዳቤ እንዲያነሳ መጠየቃቸው ታውቋል።

የክልሉ ቤቶች ኤጀንሲ ጉዳዩ ከፍተኛ ዝርፊያ መሆኑን ቢገልጽም፣ የሆቴሉ አስተዳዳሪ የአቶ ወልዱ ልጅ ብስራት ወልዱ የክልሉን ባለስልጣናት በማስፈራራት እርምጃ እንደሚወስድ በመዛት ሆቴሉን ለማስረከብ ፈቃደኛ እንደማይሆን በመግለጹ ክልሉ የሚያደርገው ጠፍቶት ተቀምጧል። የከተማው ህዝብ በበኩሉ የክልላችንን ባለስልጣኖች አንድ የህወሀት አባል ሰው እንደልቡ እያሽከረከራቸው  በማለት ትችት እያቀረበ ነው። ህዝቡ በተደጋጋሚ የሆቴሉን ጉዳይ አንድ እልባት እንዲሰጠው እየጠየቀ ቢሆንም፣ የክልሉ ባለስልጣናት ምንም ማድረግ እንደማይችሉ እያስታወቁ ነው።

የጊዎን ሆቴል በጣና ዳር የተሰራ በርካታ አልጋዎችን በቀን ከ175 እስከ 250 ብር በሚደርስ ዋጋ ለቱሪስቶች የሚያከራይ፣ የአገሪቱ ከፍተኛ ባለስልጣናት ወደ ሆቴሉ ሲሄዱ በነጻ የሚስተናገዱበት፣ በውስጡ የያዘው ቡናና ፍራፍሬ ከፍተኛ ገቢ የሚያስገኙ ዘመናዊ ሄቴል ነው። የድርጅቱ የቀን ገቢ በ10 ሺዎች የሚቆጠር ቢሆንም ፣ ባለሀብቱ በወር የሚከፍሉት የኪራይ መጠን 5 ሺ ብር ብቻ ነው። ጭቅጭቅ ከተነሳበት ከአምና ጀምሮ ደግሞ ባለሀብቱ የአምስት ሺ ብር የቤት ኪራይ መክፈል ማቆማቸው ታውቋል።

ከምንም የተነሱት የሆቴሉ ባለቤት ከ21 አመታት በሁዋላ እጅግ የናጠጡ ሀብታም ለመሆንና የተለያዩ ድርጅቶችንም ለመክፈት ችለዋል።

ጉዳዩን በማስመልከት ጥያቄ ያቀረብንለት አንድ የኪራይ ቤቶች ድርጅት ሰራተኛ ” ግለሰቡ ቤቱን እንዲያስረክቡ ሲጻፍላቸው ዋጋህን ታገኛለህ” የሚል መልስ መስጠታቸውን ገልጿል። የክልሉ መንግስት እየደረሰበት ካለው ትችት ነጻ መሆን የሚችለው ግለሰቡ ሆቴሉን እንዲያስረክቡ ሲያደርግ እና እንደማንኛውም ሰው ተጫርተው ተገቢውን ክፍያ መክፈል ሲችሉ ብቻ ነው” ብሎአል።

አንድ ሌላ የባህርዳር ነዋሪ ደግሞ  ጊዮን ሄቴል ህወሀት በክልላችን ያለውን የበላይነት ለማሳየት ጥሩ ምሳሌ ነው ብሎአል።

በጉዳዩ ዙሪያ የሆቴሉን ባለቤትም ሆነ የክልሉን መንግስት ለማግኘት ያደርገው መኩራ አልተሳካም። በኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ የሚታየው የአንድ ዘር የኢኮኖሚ፣ ወታደራዊና ፖለቲካዊ የበላይነት የአገሪቱ መነጋጋሪያ እየሆነ መምጣቱን መዘገባችን ይታወሳል።

The Boss of Bahir Dar: Bisrat at the Ghion Hotel

If you need to get anything arranged in Bahir Dar, go and see Bisrat at the Ghion Hotel. He is a fabulous man who manages the Ghion Hotel (a budget hotel with a beautiful lakeside patio and a wonderful, relaxed vibe). Even though we did not stay at the Ghion (it is an older hotel in need of some renos), Bisrat arranged our tour to the Blue Nile falls and organized our trip back to Addis (the Ghion tours to the Blue Nile Falls are listed in the Lonely Planet). Our discovery of Ato Bisrat was a wonderful side-benefit of visiting the Ghion.

When we called and complained about our shady mini-bus driver (Iago), Bisrat took immediate action and said he would handle the situation, promising even to return our deposit. Bisrat is one of those people you meet in life that goes out of his way to help you even if he does not have to. He did not gain by helping us (in fact he might still have to endure the drama associated with Iago), but he helped us just the same. If you visit Bahir Dar and you should (it is stunning), call Bisrat. He will help you out. Who’s the Boss in Bahir Dar? No, not Tony Danza or Judith Light. It’s Bisrat.

   I keep thinking I should be coming up with deep thoughts and Truths about what being in Africa is about, but I’ve only been here a week or so and am still feeling my way. But what about this: at the Ghion Hotel I proofread and edited some documents for Bisrat, the manager in exchange for a hot shower in his office and a discount on a boat trip the next morning—and I don’t even stay at the Ghion!
     The point is to have the liberating feeling that anything is possible. Tomorrow I may feel the opposite, but just to have the feeling, however fleeting it may prove to be, makes being here exciting.

     Everyone gravitates to the Ghion. It has an ideal, relaxed setting next to Lake Tana, good food, cold drinks, soothing breezes and horrendous mosquitoes at dusk. Bisrat is a fixer, able to arrange everything you could need: transport, hotels, tours, communications, etc. I like him because he not only looks like Charles Barkley, especially when he raises his eyebrows, but he has a sense of humor that I like.
     He had an employment poster for a new hotel opening in Addis Ababa and I said he shouldn’t show it to his staff or they might leave. Without missing a beat, he deadpanned, “I hope they leave.”
     He made a call for me to a hotel in the next town I am going. While on the line he said to me, “They’re full.” As a joke I said, “Tell them I’m American.”
     In an authoritarian voice he barked into the phone, “He’s American!” and then with professional comic timing, “Hello?” faking that they hung up on him.
